- Your next steering committee will be announced
Open Steering Committee Positions
- Presides at all Network and Steering Committee meetings.
- Oversees all the Network’s activities.
- Calls special meetings of the Steering Committee and supports those in other Steering Committee positions, as needed.
- Appoints ad hoc committees, as needed.
- Serves as a liaison between the Network and Academic Advising Initiatives.
- Maintains a financial partnership with Academic Advising Initiatives to request funds needed for programming.
- Serves as an ex-officio member of the Steering Committee and be available for consultation, as needed, upon conclusion of their tenure.
- Performs the duties and responsibilities of the Chair in their absence.
- Assumes the role of Chair at the end of two years.
- Serves as the VT Campus Partners liaison.
- Leads the biannual Steering Committee election process.
- Maintains a current and accurate list of active members.
- Supports the Network in maintaining its associated membership with The Global Community for Academic Advising (NACADA) and supports the goals and programs of NACADA.
- Supports the initiatives of those in other Steering Committee positions, as needed.
- Develops and maintains Steering Committee agendas and minutes.
- Sends calendar invites to Steering Committee members for meetings and events.
- Ensures the following initiatives are fulfilled: content to be distributed in a monthly newsletter and maintenance of the website and any social media presence.
- Promotes all Social Events and Professional Development Events to current and potential Advising Network members across campus.
- Supports the initiatives of those in other Steering Committee positions, as needed.
- Creates educational and training opportunities for academic advisors.
- Collaborates with the Academic Advising Initiatives office on advisor programming to support diverse and less redundant opportunities across the university.
- Supports the initiatives of those in other Steering Committee positions, as needed.
- Creates social and networking opportunities for academic advisors both on and off campus.
- Encourages institutional networking within and amongst academic colleges, departments, and units.
- Supports the initiatives of those in other Steering Committee positions, as needed.
Nomination Process
Nominations will be accepted between February 13 and March 5, 2023. To nominate yourself or another person, please complete and submit the Steering Committee Nomination Form.

Voting
Review candidate information, then cast your votes for the new steering committee!
Voting will take place between March 16, 2023 and March 31, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. To vote, you must be a member of the Advising Network. Each member will be permitted to submit one ballot (voting once for each open steering committee position).
The election will use a ranked-choice ballot and Tier 1 ranked-choice voting rules from rcv123.org. The Election Administrator (EA) will be Vice Chair, Andrew Dolbin-MacNab, supported by the current Advising Network Steering Committee.
The new steering committee will be announced the week of April 3, 2023.
